Tanning Oil

Are you looking forward to having sun-kissed skin? Most people in the US are obsessed with bronzed skin. Even though not all want a bronzed skin look, it has become a fad. As a result, you’ll find many stores selling tanning oil. However, if you don’t want to buy tanning oil from a beauty shop, you might wonder if coconut oil would suffice.

Coconut Oil as Tanning Oil

You might have heard of the benefits of coconut oil. It may boost your brain function while increasing your good cholesterol. But does it help accelerate the tanning process? Does it let you obtain a golden glow from the sun without the risks of suffering from sun exposure side effects?

Blocks 20% of Sun’s Damaging Rays

According to Mayo Clinic, “Coconut oil blocks only an estimated 20 percent of the sun's damaging rays.”In that case, it’s not enough to block harmful rays. Thus, it can be an effective way to help you get the right tan. However, it’s not advisable because its SPF is below 30. If you want sufficient UV protection, you need oil with at least SPF 15. And you must re-apply it every two hours.

Use the Right Tanning Oil

If you’re not getting the desired tan, you might consider using tanning oil that contains natural ingredients. In this way, you can be sure that your skin is protected from products containing harmful content. Tanning oil should help you get a tan. But you should not use a product with harmful components.

Tanning Oil with SPF

You must choose an oil that has enough SPF. But because the goal here is to achieve a quick and deep tan, most tanning oils don’t contain enough SPF. Even a small amount of SPF, like SPF 15 can already protect your skin. The goal here is to choose an oil with SPF and not stay out in the sun longer.

How to Use Tanning Oil Properly?

To get a perfect tan, you need to attract higher volumes of UV rays. It means that you have to stay in the sun longer. But don’t forget to wear sun protection. In that case, you must not just buy any tanning oil. Make sure that the oil contains SPF. Arizona Sun, for instance, is an ideal oil as it offers sun protection.

When applying this oil, make sure to pour a generous amount and spread it evenly across all areas of your body. Apply it to your entire body if you want an even sun-kissed complexion. You should also re-apply it every two hours or as needed, after playing a sport, for example.

Off-Peak Hours

Another way to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun while getting a sun-kissed complexion is to go out early. It reduces your chances of developing skin cancer. Consider going out before 10 am or after 4 pm.
